Amazon Reportedly Developing a Doorbell That Lets Deliverymen Inside Your Home

Amazon changed the online shopping game with its impressively fast and easy delivery system, but the American e-commerce giant still hasn’t solved the problem of stolen packages — perhaps not until now. CNBC recently reported that Amazon is finding a way to ensure that deliveries reach their destination/rightful owners with a smart home-security system that gives couriers the ability to enter your home.
Specifically, Amazon has been reportedly working with Phrame, a company that makes “smart” license plate frames that can unlock your car trunk via an app, offering “secured one-time and time-limited access for a courier to open your trunk and deliver your package.” Amazon has also been considering a doorbell unlocking system that also gives couriers access inside users homes to drop off a package.
Though neither Amazon nor Phrame have confirmed these reports, there have been rumors of Amazon adopting new smart delivery methods since last year, and fighting “porch pirates” is indeed one task that would streamline Amazon’s e-commerce.
