Nike Drops a Patriotic Rendition of Pete Sampras's Air Oscillate
The Swoosh celebrates the American tennis great’s 1997 Australian Open title.

Back in 2015, Nike brought back the OG rendition of the old Air Oscillate in the midst of the U.S. Open — the same kicks Pete Sampras laced up on his way to the second of back-to-back U.S. Open titles in 1996. Now, after following up the OG look with a “Safari” take on the low-top tennis kicks, Nike is revisiting the silhouette again here in 2017 — this time to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Sampras’s 1997 Australian Open title. Resurrected in a patriotic nod to the American tennis great, the kicks come with an asymmetrical red, white and blue look: red hits to the tongue, lining, collar and heel pull tab of the left shoe are juxtaposed with blue hits to the right. Furthering the championship homage are applications of metallic gold to the heels and shanks of both the left and right shoes.
Retailing for $125 USD, the celebratory drop can be found now in limited quantities at SNS.
