A First Look at the RZA-Scored Version of 'The 36th Chamber of Shaolin'
The kung fu classic meets “Bring Da Ruckus.”
RZA’s live-scored version of The 36th Chamber of Shaolin is just a few short weeks away. And if you’re wondering how exactly the event may unfold, Alamo Drafthouse has you covered thanks to its new teaser for the upcoming extravaganza — featuring none other than Wu-Tang’s classic “Bring Da Ruckus.”
Alamo has also offered up a little bit of additional info on the event. Not only will RZA be re-scoring the film’s opening sequence to closing credits with “over 40 instrumental tracks, beats and vocals individually crafted and placed to amplify the narrative and electrifying action of Kar-leung’s enduring classic,” but the film itself — taking cues from how RZA himself saw it growing up — will appear in dubbed form with all of its original English dialog intact.
If you can’t make Beyond Fest on October 12 in Los Angeles to check it out, you’ll have at least one other opportunity to take it all in: RZA: Live From the 36th Chamber of Shaolin will now debut September 29 in Austin, Texas at the Stateside Theatre at the Paramount. Tickets are on sale now.
