Monster's Lawsuit Against Beats by Dre Is Thrown out of Court
Things are not going in Monster’s favor.

A Los Angeles court has dismissed the case Monster filed against Beats by Dre. The company accused Beats of making questionable deals in order to end its partnership with Monster, in addition to blocking Monster founder Noel Lee of share value all ahead of Apple’s acquisition of the company. Lee once held a five percent stake in Beats as part of a partnership between the headphone maker and Monster, and he claimed that Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine orchestrated an under-the-table deal with HTC, leading to the demise of the Monster-Beats alliance. The judge presiding over the case was clear — the agreement between Monster and Beats explicitly allowed the latter party to sever ties without having to gain permission. A scheduled court date in September is still happening though — but it’s now limited to Beats’ bid to recoup legal costs.
