BAPE founder and Japanese father of streetwear NIGO has been embarking on some innovative endeavors lately. This spring, the fashion polymath unveiled a partnership with graffiti artist Futura for his brand NIGOLD, and even collaborated on a sleek iRing for his Human Made label. Despite his futuristic ventures, NIGO still looks fondly on the past. His latest collection for Human Made, titled “Season 12,” is testament to his nostalgic tendencies, featuring designs inspired by ‘50s-era motifs.
Human Made’s T-shirts always provide a whimsical counterpoint to streetwear’s tough reputation, and this season’s offerings are no exception. Signature styles incorporate Human Made’s logo into midcentury scenes – one T-shirt is printed with a bell boy hoisting up Human Made-branded suitcases, another features a sailor girl waving Human Made logo flags. Our favorite is a white graphic T-shirt featuring a polar bear – a popular motif – cuddling a furry Human Made figure.
