Ed Ruscha has lived in Los Angeles for almost 60 years, spending his time creating art in many mediums like photography, painting, drawing; pretty much anything he can use to make his mark on a surface. Associated with the Pop Art movement in the mid-1950s, his work has focused on depicting the architecture, visuals and typography that he encountered throughout his Californian adventures. Ruscha is recognized for his many photo books as well as painting words and phrases, examining the relation between text and image. Watch the Felipe Lima-directed video above to understand the full scope of the artist as told by his friends and cohorts, and narrated by Oscar nominee Owen Wilson.
