Legendary Rider Daniel Dhers Makes History in BMX’s First Salt Park
“This is the roughest project I’ve done in my life, it’s a beautiful scenery but riding at this height is crazy.”
Legendary BMX rider Daniel Dhers helped carve out riding history in this rather unusual ramp locale. Situated in Uyuni, Bolivia, renowned ramp builder John Saxton designed the world’s first BMX Salt Park sitting 3,600m above sea level. At such a challenging altitude level, low atmospheric pressure produces an oxygen shortage in the blood — adding a whole new set of challenges for the modern day daredevil. Dhers was quoted saying “I would make a line in the Salt Park and would stop for five minutes to catch my breath again. Plus it was really hot during the day and when the sun was covered by a cloud I was freezing.” For a closer look, check out the video above to catch Dhers in action.
