Tinder's Newest Social Feature Will Let You Go on Group Dates
“…it could be perceived as an orgy app.”
Tinder recently debuted a new feature that allows people to meet up in groups. The dating app takes its premise of real-world connections to a whole other level by letting folks invite friends on their dates within the social meeting service. It is also important to mention that this new function will also enable you to see which of your Facebook friends use the app and view their profiles. The company had launched a beta version of Tinder Social in Australia, and is now live with the concept globally.
Unsurprisingly however, this expansion has apparently spurred confusion from particular folks who dub it as a group sex app rather than a casual get-together. “Tinder is seen by many as being a hook-up site,” Ben Wood from the CCS Insight consultancy told the BBC. “So, it needs to be careful. By expanding in this direction, rather than becoming a more interesting social meeting service, it could be perceived as an orgy app.”
Contrarily, Tinder said that the feature is only intended to bring out a more convivial atmosphere for users. “Tinder Social is designed to make it as easy as possible to plan your night, get out into the real world and meet new people,” said co-founder Sean Rad. “The new feature takes the Tinder experience to a new level, offering our users more ways to expand their social circles and interact with potential matches. We believe it’s the ultimate tool for planning your next adventure.”
Folks must install the latest version of the app to gain access to the new feature. After installing, users can simply “unlock” Tinder social. Once it’s unlocked, users can create groups and invite interested parties up to four people into their group. The group then goes on to discuss whatever it is they desire to do.
