Vetements Puts Its Spin on Sartorial Staples for Its Fall/Winter 2016 Collection
Including some never-before-seen statement pieces from the controversial fashion collective.

Demna and Guram Gvasalia’s Vetements collective is infamous for its oversized, distended takes on streetwear staples. Now, the Paris-based fashion house is applying its subversive aesthetic to classic pieces of menswear: jeans, flannel shirts, and Canada Goose-inspired shell parkas are all stretched-out and twisted for the house’s Fall/Winter 2016 collection. Luxury retailer Matches Fashion has gotten its hands on some of the collection, as well as some never-before-seen pieces.
Gvasalia and co. have tapped into the tremendous hype surrounding the brand and created pieces that combine the nascent it-brand’s staples: there are oversized shiny bombers with terry hoods built into them; patchwork denim sewn with panels of vintage jeans with asymmetrical raw hems. Pants range from slim-fit sweats to super-wide trousers built to sit low and pool atop footwear.
As always, the brand brings statement pieces in spades: sweats and military jackets alike are screen-printed with the brand’s ‘ELEVEN INCH GUN CLUB’ motif; bombers crib a “TOTAL FUCKING DARKNESS” from old Cradle of Filth merch; there is even a supersized tartan robe coat.
You can preview and pre-order the collection before it inevitably sells out over on Matches now.
