Versace's 2017 Spring/Summer Collection Beams With Ready-to-Wear Athleticism
Fashions inspired from seasons and sport.

“I brought almost all my design team to see — because they’d never be able to see this. We came back, and we designed the collection in five days!” With this, Donatella Versace was of course referring to her time spent with Bruce Weber in photographing her Fall 2016 Versace campaign and the accompanying short film to go with it. It was, ironically enough, shooting her fall collection that inspired her Spring 2017 menswear show — further validating how fashion can scramble perceptions and its seasons.
Boasting an air of ready-to-wear athleticism, Versace’s spring assemblage declares a prominent sport-luxe feel with a steady swarm of activewear staples, namely, crewneck tops, cycle pants, windbreakers, sneakers and zipped hoodies. However, in her signature italiano flair, much was left to the imagination in such pieces as the beige-tinged leather biker jacket adorned with perforated “X” markings, as was the elongated, perma-crinkled trench.
