'The Voice Mexico' Singer Jano Fuentes Shot & Killed

The attack took place in Chicago’s Brighton Park neighborhood.

Alejandro “Jano” Fuentes, best known for being a contestant on Mexico’s version of The Voice in 2011, was shot on Thursday and died on Saturday, the day after funeral of Christina Grimmie. According to The Guardian, Fuentes was ambushed while celebrating his birthday with friends. An armed man ordered him out of his car and when Fuentes did not comply, he was shot three times to the head. The attack occured in Chicago’s Brighton Park neighborhood where Fuentes had put up an arts studio. Police are currently investigating whether the attack was an attempted carjacking or robbery. We send our regards to Fuentes’ loved ones during this time of difficulty; rest in peace.
