A Teenager Tries to Retrieve His Stolen Jordans in New Indie Film 'Kicks'
How much are you willing to sacrifice for your Jordans?
For many kids living in inner-city neighborhoods Jordans are the pinnacle of teenage achievement, the result of hundreds of hours spent working minimum-wage jobs and bestowing their wearers with instant status within the high school hierarchy. Understandably, having your prized sneakers stolen can often mean the end of your teenage life as you know it, both literally and figuratively. Kicks is a new coming-of-age film that goes inside the head of 15-year-old Brandon, an Oakland teen who has his Air Jordan 1 sneakers wrenched from him, thus forcing him into a journey of redemption. Directed by Justin Tipping and starring Jahking Guillory in his debut role, Kicks first premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and is set for a general release on September 9.
