How to Make an Oxford Shirt in 50 Steps
Find out exactly what goes into this wardrobe staple.
The oxford shirt has been a wardrobe staple for men for decades, but given its seemingly simple appearance, it takes a perfectly orchestrated symphony of people and machines to create the garment in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible. In its mission for absolute transparency, fledgling Swedish online label ASKET has created a mini-documentary showing the 50 steps required to make an oxford shirt at its factory in Braga, Portugal. Requiring exactly 2.2 square meters of fabric, 97 meters of thread, 14 buttons, 43 separate pieces, and more than 50 fabric makers and seamstresses, the ASKET oxford shirt is also available in 15 different sizes to better cater to a wide range of body types, which only makes the manufacturing process that much more complicated.
Launching today, the ASKET oxford shirt is now available in white, blue and grey for €70 EUR (approximately $80 USD) online here.
