Drai's Brings a Unique Concert Experience (and Future) to Las Vegas's Club Scene

Owner Victor Drai talks about innovating the city’s nightlife as Future performs behind him.

There isn’t much the City of Sin doesn’t offer, but when you consider the music of choice for most venues tends to cater to house and EDM fans, it can be quite difficult for hip-hop heads to find a proper turn-up. While there are many reasons for this void, Drai’s Nightclub however is singlehandedly reviving Las Vegas’s love for hip-hop with a superstar roster of artists and a sophisticated, yet exciting atmosphere.

The Morocco-born owner, Victor Drai, has been at the forefront of shaping the world famous nightlife in Las Vegas for over 20 years. After successful runs in fashion, Hollywood and the restaurant business, Victor added a nightclub to his Las Vegas strip restaurant, dubbed Drai’s After Hours at Barbary Coast (recently relaunched as The Cromwell). One of the first true after hours venues in the city, Drai’s is often credited as a pioneer in the Las Vegas house music and EDM scene. Following the opening of a number of clubs around the city, the Nightclub Hall-of-Famer opened a rooftop club in 2014 at the Cromwell, adding to his collection of nightlife offerings on-property, and becoming the first venue to offer a concert-like experience with premier hip-hop artists, rather than the quick three-to-five songs we’re use to, mixed with a sophisticated ambience that is largely associated with upscale lounges.

With a roster of artists that includes A$AP Rocky, Big Sean, Chris Brown, Fabolous, Trey Songz and many more, we visited the one-of-a-kind venue the night of Future’s turnt-up, sold-out 2016 residency launch on February 7 to speak with Victor about his club and how he hopes to raise the bar in both music and nightlife.
