Merrydown Is an Airy, Minimalist Hand-Me-Down House

Merrydown may look like a picture perfect space, but the house is technically both a hand-me-down and a fixer-upper — the home was originally occupied by the owner’s mother, after all. The home was gut renovated by architects McLaren Excell in order to increase the square footage, while roof joists were suspended to provide the home with a whole additional story of height. The space is filled with purely natural materials like birch plywood, wood wool and concrete to tie everything together.
