A graduate of the prestigious Central Saint Martins in London, Kim Jones was in a sense destined to make an impact in the world of fashion. Even before officially finishing school almost half of his 2001 graduate collection was bought by John Galliano, giving him the necessary funds to launch his namesake label the following year. The British designer’s work with the likes of retail giants Uniqlo and Topman, and luxury brands Mulberry, McQ by Alexander McQueen, and Dunhill to name a few, helped propel him to the position of Style Director for French fashion house Louis Vuitton, arguably the pinnacle of contemporary menswear.
If he isn’t catching flights across timezones for various projects, Jones finds himself traveling between his residences in London and Paris almost routinely. ”Easy and convenient” is the name of the game when it comes to his essentials, which include limited releases from his current employers and surprisingly (or not) a pair of kicks which any sneakerhead would die for. An unreleased Monogram Tote Bag holds a couple days worth of clothes, while all of his chargers and accessories are stored in a limited Nemeth Pochette made in collaboration with Isetan. To ensure maximum comfort on any plane ride, Jones brings with him a personalized cashmere scarf and a smaller, more discreet monogram pouch packed with all of his in-flight essentials. He also travels with his rose gold MacBook Air and a stationary set from the POOL aoyama to work on-the-go. Last but not least are the fragment design x Air Jordan 1s, a model that he apparently has seven pairs of.
