Take a Tour of Barclays Africa's Digital Development Offices in Cape Town
Housed inside of what used to be an industrial factory.
Barclays Africa tapped South African design studios dhk to design the company’s digital development offices. Nestled in one of Cape Town’s most booming city neighborhoods—within a former factory now known as Longkloof Studios—the space offers flexible, modifiable space that can accommodate different projects. The space houses a small group of up to 60 UX and UI software developers, whose work culture necessitates collaborative and creative problem-solving and project management.
Aesthetically speaking, the designers preserved much of the factory space’s fittings and finishes—exposed brick, riveted columns, heavy steel doors—which contrast with modern industrial stylings, including oversized bean-bags and oil-drum tables.
