Here Is This Year's Air Jordan 7 Doernbecher
Designed by a 10-year-old Doernbecher Hospital patient.
After Nike’s partnership with the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital was announced earlier this year, we’ve finally received official images of the 2016 Air Jordan 7 Doernbecher. Designed by 10-year-old Doernbecher Hospital patient Damien Phillips, who suffers from hemophilia and is a huge Chicago Bulls and rock ‘n’ roll fan, the special edition sneaker features a red leather upper with black marbled paneling, a black midsole with hits of gold, an icy bottom sole with a cartoon illustration of Damien playing the guitar, a gold Jumpman pin on the ankle and special gold branding on the tongue. Other personalized details include guitar pick lace locks, gold aglets and a heel tab that looks like a guitar neck.
Damien hopes that Michael Jordan will want to rock a pair of his shoes someday, and also that the project will help other kids with hemophilia stay optimistic. “When I found out, I was so excited I was jumping all over the place,” Damien commented upon finding out that he would be part of the collaboration. Dropping on December 17, the Air Jordan 7 Doernbecher will retail for $190 USD in men’s sizes and $140 USD for Grade School sizes, and can be found here.
