This Chinese Firm Designed a Drone You Can Fly In
Forget flying cars, here’s the one-seater drone we’ve all been waiting for.

From aerial GoPro cinematography to FPV drone racing, the advent of drone technology has made the experience of flight ever more accessible to humans than before. However, all these mediums can only go so far in recreating the sensation of drone flight. Chinese startup company Ehang has gone one step further, unveiling the Ehang184 Autonomous Aerial Vehicle — a one-seater drone that is capable of carrying an individual of up to 220 lbs. With the tagline of “the safest, ECO-est [sic] and Smartest low altitude autonomous aerial vehicle,” the Ehang184 allows fully automated flight, with vehicle operation being as simple as drawing a flight path to a nearby destination and then tapping the ‘launch’ button on the tablet app. Ehang has already developed a functional prototype, and pegs the aircraft’s speed at 100km/h and a flight ceiling of 500 meters, with a flight duration of 23 minutes. Keep your eye on any developments here, as this may very well be the precursor to flying cars of the future.
