'Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain' Launch Trailer
Hideo Kojima drops a nostalgic look back at the ‘Metal Gear’ franchise.
With less than a week between now and the game’s highly anticipated release, Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima has released his final trailer for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. While the majority of the trailer serves as a nostalgic look back at the embattled director/producer’s most popular series, the piece does well to set the stage for Kojima’s Konami swan song and ends with Snake squaring off against Metal Gear Sahelanthropus — an anthropoid bipedal weapon system billed by the Kojima-directed trailer as “the ultimate Metal Gear.”
The Phantom Pain — Kojima’s final game for Konami — is due out September 1 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.
