As we are getting into the heart of summer, Detroit artist GRiZ has come through to provide us with some mellow funk to add to our summertime playlists. Featuring fellow All Good Records artist Muzzy Bearr, “Summer ‘97” boasts a laid back, old school feel, even noting a sample of the classic “Summer Breeze” by Seals & Croft. This is also paired with a perfect intro snippet that highlights Matthew McConaughey’s Dazed and Confused character imploring his pals to just live.
GRiZ originally began recording “Summer ‘97” last summer, but by the time he was finished it was already winter, so he decided to hold onto the jam until Summer 2015. Either way, we still appreciate it. Enjoy it now above.
