The Ola Fingerprint Lock Is the Latest Evolution of Smart Locks
Fingerprint scanning technology is going to make opening your front door easier than ever before.
The current generation of smart locks are an improvement over traditional locks, no doubt, but even they must depend on a number of peripherals, most important of them being your smartphone. In addition, should your smartphone run out of battery, you would have to resort to a key to open the smart lock, which ultimately defeats the purpose of installing a smart lock in the first place. Enter the Ola, which takes the most advanced fingerprint scanning technology and applies it to your door. In this case, the Ola is truly key-less, requiring only your thumb to unlock your door. Coming in mortise lock or standard latch bolt configurations, the unit runs on four AA batteries with a backup, which can last for two years of use. Machined from zinc aluminum alloy, the Ola incorporates Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, allowing family or friends to be granted access via a smartphone app; or alternatively, their fingerprints can also be registered with the lock for intuitive access. Head on over to Ola’s Kickstarter page to fund the project, which is due to be shipped in March 2016.
