The Simpsons executive producer Al Jean revealed a stunning twist to the long-running franchise, and one that puts an end to the most storied revenge plot in (probably) all of TV history. In The Simpsons’ upcoming annual “Treehouse of Horror” Halloween episode, Sideshow Bob will finally kill Bart off. According to Jean, “I’m one of the people that always wanted to see the Coyote eat the Roadrunner, I hated frustration comedy, so we’ll scratch that itch.” The nefarious criminal, voiced by Kelsey Grammar, was first introduced in Season One while he tried to frame Krusty the Clown of armed robbery. His seemingly endless quest of finishing Bart off began in Season Five, now 20 years ago. Well, Sideshow Bob’s futile acts will finally amount to something this Halloween, but of course, the “Treehouse of Horror” episodes deviate from the regular plotline of the show, so Bart’s demise will have no real implications beyond that episode.
