Not content with last year’s cinematic foray into space in Interstellar, Matt Damon is to return in Ridley Scott’s forthcoming adaptation of the Andy Weir novel The Martian. In the first trailer for the film, slated for release on November 25, we see Damon having fun with his fellow NASA crew-mates as they prepare for their trip to Mars, in a lighthearted video-log-style teaser. The synopsis for the full movie is set to take a darker tone, with Damon’s character being stranded on the planet after a huge storm when his crew, played by Sebastian Stan, Kate Mara, Aksel Hennie, Jessica Chastain and Michael Pena, assume him dead. Keep an eye out for more detailed, plot-driven trailers in the coming months.
