It is a widely known fact that owners of Land Rover Defenders have a bond that transcends that between man and machine — as the number of Defender appreciation societies around the world show, this car has that special something that will make a grown man dote over it like a longtime companion. As such, Petrolicious has chosen to shine the spotlight on a particular example of this robust species, namely “La Poderosa,” a 1995 Defender owned by photographer Sean Reagan and partner Mittie Roger whose name translates as “The Powerful.” Having seen the duo through no small amount of hardships in their seven years of traveling in Central America, Reagan and Roger credit the Defender’s reliability to its utilitarian simplicity: “She gets us where we need to go, whether that’s an off-road, difficult-to-reach place or whether it’s a long-distance trip on highways,” Roger says. “If she breaks down, we can fix her. There’s nothing to get stolen, there are no locks on the doors.” Watch the latest Petrolicious episode above and catch the rest of them here.
