VICE’s tech website Motherboard has spent a day with Martin Cooper, the inventor of the world’s first ever portable, handheld cellphone. Creator of the Motorola DynaTAC 8000X, way back in 1973, Marty explains how the first call he ever made was to a rival engineer at AT&T, his vision for the future of cellphones, artificial intelligence, and the inevitable obsolescence of apps.
