Singapore-based SBTG has designed a sneaker paying homage to a local rite of passage, mandatory military service. Inspired by this common thread and teaming up with local boutique Born & Raised, two special “sections” of the New Balance 996 have been customized to celebrate the country’s “military issue.” Both pairs feature SBTG’s signature sage duck camouflage print with battle embellishments. The two variants include the “Bravo Romeo Section” ($399 SGD, approximately $299 USD, limited to 15 pieces) and the “Bravo Romeo Specialist” ($699 SGD, approximately $525 USD, limited to 5 pieces). The “Section” features a predominantly white upper, a camouflage heel cage printed with “ARMY” complemented by red accents. The shoe is completed with a patched tongue and a silver army-inspired serial upon its side. The “Specialist” features a predominantly green upper, with camouflage contrasting the New Balance logo. Each are specially serialized and housed in a custom box. Available now at the Born & Raised pop-up at Tangs Orchard.
