Google Develops Touchless Wearable Technology

We’ve only begun scratching the surface of what wearable technology can offer us, but Google is already looking at ways to make the experience simpler. Project Soli aims to make wearable technology controllable with gestures of your hand, without having to touch its surface at all. The developers cite two major problems with current wearable tech — that it’s too bulky, but smaller screens aren’t precise. Therefore, the project is looking at using radars to sense gestures, opening up a world of possible interactions. The Apple Watch tried to tackle this problem by incorporating an innovative digital crown for zooming purposes, but the physical addition only understands one type of gesture. Project Soli’s radar can process much more, from snaps, points and rubs. Check out the innovative technology above, with implications much farther reaching than just for watches.
