No stranger to setting car auction records, another Ferrari has taken a record amount. RM Auctions and Sotheby’s sold a vintage 1962 Ferrari 400 Superamerica SWB Cabriolet for a whopping $7.6 million USD, as a part of the father-and-son Paul & Chris Andrews collection last weekend. Previously, a similar Ferrari sold for $6.38 million USD, while even further off, an aerodynamic coupe version was sold for $4 million USD. The 400 Superamerica was the luxury car of its day — rare and fast with only 47 ever made. Seven were bodied by Pininfarina, and this car is the last of them. Apart from the Superamerica, the auction boasted another 15 seven-figure lots, bringing the total earnings of the weekend to $53,887,585 USD, unsurprisingly setting a record for a private automobile collection.
