Paul Smith Via Manzoni will display a limited-edition Vanhulsteijn bicycle as part of Milan’s upcoming international furniture exhibition, Salone Internazionale del Mobile. The “Urushi” model bicycle to be shown draws cues from heritage Japanese designs, and exemplifies the Dutch company’s impeccable craftsmanship. The bike is made from urushi lacquer — a hardened sap taken from Japanese lacquer trees — and is combined with a gold leaf for a unique finish to each of the nine “Urushi” bikes. Prices are available upon request, and the bicycles will be displayed from now till April 27.
