In August of last year we premiered Danny Seth‘s song “I Arise Because,” a booming and hypnotic track that backs the rapper’s boasts of overseas popularity, and his desires to be the first British rapper to break America. The song comes from his forthcoming mixtape Perception, which is influenced by how people will perceive him when the project drops.
Now, fans have something else to keep them occupied for a bit until Perception‘s release: the music video for “I Arise Because.” Directed by Nick Walker and Karim Huu Do, the video is made up of many great shots. From driving through sandy terrain in an all-white whip to rapping through different urban landscapes, the visuals act more like a short movie than your average music video. The ending even adds to that feel, bringing you in for the video’s biggest “WTF” moment, before cutting to black.
According to Seth and the directors, the visual is the second half of a short film that’s already completed.
“This is the beginning of a story of visuals which will compliment my forthcoming tape Perception coming mid-April,” Seth said.
As for the inspiration behind the “I Arise Because” video, Walker said that he wanted to incorporate themes present in Seth’s previous music videos, while showcasing his growth as an artist and performer.
“In the end we have a visual for his past journeys and his wakening serves as the jump off point for the future,” Walker said.
