Singer Jhene Aiko‘s “Eternal Sunshine” is already a powerful song on its own. As one of the last tracks from her debut album, Souled Out, “Eternal Sunshine” was a brief glimpse into Aiko’s past as she revisits moments of her youth, the phrase “All of the good things, good things” a driving mantra throughout the ballad-esque song.
Now, Aiko has released the visuals for “Eternal Sunshine,” and it really puts the line into perspective. Directed by Jay Ahn, the video features the singer reflecting on a near-death experience she had in 2013, when she was in a car accident with her daughter Namiko, sister Miyoko, and Namiko’s father O’Ryan.
Aiko’s face is front and center while the background captures the aftermath of the accident. Flashback clips from her childhood begin to appear, including moments with her daughter and brother Miyagi, who died of cancer in 2012 and who the video is dedicated to.
