In a move that speaks to its continued shift to attract younger consumers, Swiss luxury watchmaker Patek Philippe is introducing the 5524G Calatrava Pilot Travel Time. Inspired by vintage pilots watches from the 1930s, the watch features a navy blue dial—a bit of a departure from a traditional black dial of most pilot watches—white gold casing, and a vintage brown calfskin watch. It has a decidedly casual vibe, and should offer a very approachable price point (by Patek’s standards). Though official pricing has yet to be announced, it is expected to come in around $50,000 USD—similar to that of two recent Patek releases, the 5960A and 5990A. For some comparison, a vintage Patek Philippe pilot watch sold in 2009 for over $1.7 million USD.
