Empire writer and creator Danny Strong knew his next project would be in based in hip-hop, however, when he searched for inspiration for his soon-to-be characters, it seemed only prudent to first review interviews of media sensation Kanye West. Strong has penned scripts for such films as Mockingjay, Game Change and The Butler however, with his newest project he knew he needed to get at the core inner workings of the rap industry to make his show a success and his immediate subject of interest was the Yeezus mastermind. That’s not to say the research was solely in music however, as the detailed history of media interactions Mr. West has accumulated over a decade of being in the public eye was just too fitting for the the actor-turned-writer.
