UPDATE: Apple Rumored to Enter TV Business

UPDATE: According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple’s television service will launch sometime this September. Boasting 25 channels from major broadcasters such as ABC, CBS and Fox, the service will be priced around $30 USD to $40 USD. An official announcement by the Cupertino tech-giant is rumored to take place this June.
Apple is now allegedly entering the rat race in the ever-saturated TV business. Having spent years hovering around the TV market, Apple is rumored to be talking to different TV programmers about deals for a Pay TV service. The idea is that Apple would offer bundle packages, as opposed to an entire TV lineup that most Pay TV services provide, then selling the bundles over the web. By offering their own service, user experience and interface, Apple wouldn’t be revolutionizing the TV market but instead just offering another option for consumers. Apple’s only venture into TV lies in the Apple TV box, which makes it easier for users to get web TV on their conventional television sets. Previously in 2009, Apple had proposed a monthly subscription television plan, and most recently, the company had planned to work with Time Warner Cable to provide hardware for customers. However now, it seems as if Apple is looking to work directly with TV content owners instead of the TV pipe owners. Let us know what you think and whether you would subscribe to an Apple-curated TV bundle.
