Legendary audio engineer and DJ Young Guru stands behind JAY Z’s signature sound, having worked with the illustrious rapper on 10 of his 11 albums. Known to take his knowledge from the studio to the lecture hall, the GRAMMY Award-winning producer has given talks at Red Bull Music Academy, BitTorrent, USC, and Geometry Global — which was streamed exclusively via our front page banner. Guru’s latest escapade takes him to acclaimed technological institute MIT where he’ll be giving a talk titled Design and Destruction as part of the university’s Hip-Hop Speaker series. Taking place on March 6, the lecture will look at how new technological tools can be used effectively to bring ideas to fruition. Furthermore, Guru will shed light on ways in which design and innovation have impacted music, and thus influencing other aspects of the creative industry. On May 1 – 2, Guru will return to Intel-Cornel Cup expo to give a talk on a similar subject matter. Taking place this year at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, the talk will be made streamable via NPR.
