HYPEBEAST TV: Kinfolk Bridges Japan, South of France and New York Retail Concepts
Creative Director Jey Perie enlightens us on how Kinfolk has become what it is today.
Since its humble beginnings as a bike brand in Kobe, Japan, Kinfolk has grown to find its business in aspects of retail, venue space, food and beverage and apparel. Jey Perie, creative director for the lattermost, pulls inspiration and experience from his time in Japan and his upbringing in the South of France. Together, these conceptual designs and ideas help to make the clothing brand Kinfolk, and his recent “Run with the Hunted” exemplifies this ideal into physical form.
We found time to sit with the incredibly busy Perie to chat about what exactly Kinfolk is as an apparel brand, where his designs stem from, the ethos behind his latest “Run with the Hunted” collection and more. The conversation continues to explain how, with no formal education in pattern making or design, he has managed to build the Kinfolk label that’s equally relevant to the fashion and streetwear market as its larger, more trained veteran brands today.
Be sure to watch HYPEBEAST TV for all things culturally relevant and visit Kinfolk for more information on the apparel.
