This Black and White Apartment Transforms When the Lights Turn On
Keeping the overall design simple, while going bold with the furniture and lights.
Russian-based firm Geometrix Designs renovated an apartment in Moscow, giving it a futuristic touch by focusing on the furniture and lighting. While mainly adhering to a monochromatic black and white design, the colored lights and bold furniture help to enliven each of the spaces. For instance, the living room embraces a row of bright purple lighting that runs along the concrete ceiling, along with two large neon lights affixed to the walls, adding a bit of rock star glam. Brightly hued chairs and sofas contrast against the geometric black shelving in the unit. The kitchen is perhaps the most interesting space as the cooking and dining areas are starkly divided into black and white zones. The dining area is clearly positioned for entertaining as it consists of an all-white kitchen island with colored lighting placed along the bar counter and tabletops, in addition to softer mood lighting from the wall-mounted fixtures.
