Urban Outfitters Acquires a Pizza Chain
An effort to drive more traffic to the store.

Urban Outfitters recently announced it was entering the pizza business with the acquisition of the Vetri Family Group of restaurants, which includes the award-winning Pizzeria Vetri. With this latest move the purveyor of hipster clothing and home goods aims to expand into the casual dining sector in the near future, with the company’s CEO Richard Hayne stating, “Spending on casual dining is expanding rapidly, and thus, we believe there is a tremendous opportunity to expand the Pizzeria Vetri concept.” Despite this unusual (and unexpected) departure from its retail roots, do you think this move will drive more traffic to U.O.?
