The North Face Uses Synthetic Spider Silk for Its Moon Parka
Tougher than any manmade material.
The North Face teams up with Japan’s Spiber to create a line of parkas made out of synthetic spider silk called QMONOS. Touted as the toughest material in the world — more durable than any man-made material – QMONOS is cultivated using a bioengineered bacteria that looks and feels like spider silk. The Moon Parka’s design is based off the Antarctica Parka, and is now appearing in store installations around Japan. Learn more about the groundbreaking endeavor here.
