Ronda Rousey Hit With a Medical Suspension Following UFC 193 Defeat
Rousey could be out for six months.
We may not see Ronda Rousey in the ring for a while. Following her stunning UFC 193 defeat at the hands — well, left foot — of Holly Holm at the Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Rousey has been hit with a mandatory medical suspension from the UFC. At the very least, Rousey will be out for 60 days — with no contact for 45 days — but could see a suspension of as long as 180 days unless she’s cleared with a negative head CT scan following the initial 60-day period. In all, 14 fighters from UFC 193 were handed medical suspensions with Rousey’s being the longest — and most high-profile — of the bunch.
With odds of 22-to-1 in the days leading up to the fight, Holm’s victory over Rousey is the single biggest upset in UFC history.
