Photographer Alexandra Lier Documents 'The World's Fastest Place'

‘Mad Max’ vibes.

Hamburg-based photographer Alexandra Lier has released her book documenting the Bonneville Salt Flats titled, The World’s Fastest Place. Located in northwestern Utah, the unique environment is a mecca for motor racers to gather and is famous for being the site of more records set for absolute speed than any other place on the planet. Lier’s photo series is a tribute to the “vanishing era of internal combustion and fossil fuel racing.” The resulting portraits and tableaux of attending gear heads with their accompanying vehicles channels strong Mad Max vibes, with many “race cars” exhibiting idiosyncratic post-Utopian-esque aesthetics. Check out a selection of images from The World’s Fastest Place above.
