Sole Classics has teamed up with Vans to produce an imaginative pair of Sk8-Hi sneakers. Drawing inspiration from the momentous occasion in history when Ohio’s Neil Armstrong took the first steps on the moon, the classic skate shoe has been infused with characteristics appropriate for space travel. Preview images show the sneaker’s waxed canvas upper, matched with an icy blue outer sole and finished with black laces. An embroidered USA Velcro patch has been stitched on the shoe’s tongue, coupled with red accents, as seen on the sneaker’s eyelets and back zipper. Design execution for the sneaker’s aesthetic is derived from the original space suit. Another noteworthy feature is the inclusion of Outlast® technology, which will provide additional functionality such as insulating feet in the cold, and cooling them in the heat. Retailing for $150 USD, the sneakers will be available at Sole Classics’ flagship and online store. Check out the coinciding launch video above.
