Lil Wayne to Sue Birdman for 8 Million Dollars
Lil Wayne made headlines recently by referring to himself as a “prisoner” on longtime label home

Lil Wayne made headlines recently by referring to himself as a “prisoner” on longtime label home Cash Money, stating that he wants to terminate relations with longtime father figure and Cash Money co-founder Bryan “Birdman” Williams, who continues to delay the release of Wayne’s album Tha Carter V. According to TMZ, Wayne and Birdman tried to work out an agreement but the talks have broken down. Now, Tunechi will ask a judge to declare him free from Cash Money, arguing that the label violated his contract by withholding the album’s release. He is also reportedly planning to sue Birdman for his promised $8 million Tha Carter V advance. Birdman, on the other side, reportedly claims he will release the album “in due time.” Wayne just released Sorry 4 the Wait 2 as an apology for the album’s delay. On the opening track, his remix of O.T. Genasis’ “CoCo,” he directly addressed Birdman and the label:
Cash Money is an army, I’m a one-man army
And if them niggas comin’ for me, I’m goin’ out like Tony
Now I don’t want problems, I just want my money
Ain’t gotta hold no conversation or my luggage
Tell whoever’s countin’ that I’m on a hundred
Birdman Jr., more like Ugly Duckling
