There are few names more emblematic of American automotive engineering than Ford’s flagship Shelby-edition Mustang. In a fittingly competitive move, the Detroit-based automaker has just removed the veil from its latest release – the Shelby Mustang GT350R. The ferocious road sleigh boasts over 500 horsepower from a 5.2-liter, flat-pane V8 engine, as well as an imposing 400 pound-feet of torque. This bullyish power is matched with relative lightness in class, as the GT350R shaves over 130 pounds from the 2014 edition; the car sports full carbon fiber wheels out of the factory and redefined aerodynamics. An impressive release from Ford, expect the Shelby Mustang GT350R to hit roads in the U.S. and Canada later this year.
