Prominent New Orleans bounce artist Nickesse Toney, better known as, Nicky Da B has passed away at the age of 24. A household name amid the bounce circle, Nicky was perhaps best known for his feature on Diplo’s single “Express Yourself.” The casue of death is currently unkown, yet his management Wondering Sound has confirmed the news with the following statement:
“It is with heaviness in our hearts today that we confirm the passing of Nicky Da B. Nicky was a beautiful soul and we will always be grateful for his magnetic personality and loving spirit. We were inspired by his talent as much as his tireless optimism, compassion and humility. Our condolences go out to his family at this time.”
Diplo also paid his condolences via Twitter and reveals that the two were in fact working on an album together for Mad Decent.
He was not only an important figure for New Orleans.. Bounce music.. He was a good friend and gave me one of my defining songs .
