Nas 'Time is Illmatic' Trailer

Nas‘ classic debut album Illmatic is still being celebrated 20 years later, as we get a glimpse of an upcoming film about the rap icon’s creative process. Taking to Nasir Jones’ home in the heart of Queensbridge, New York, the film illustrates his upbringing and early influences, including his jazz musician father and the emerging New York rap scene of which he championed in the mid ’90s. Featuring interviews from Illmatic producers Q-Tip, Pete Rock, DJ Premier and cameos from frequent collaborators Pharrell Williams and Alicia Keys, Time is Illmatic follows Nas’ journey from an unknown teenager to one of the greatest rap artists of all time. Look for the film to be available in select theaters on October 1.
