Hear Dev Hynes' Rejected Songs for Britney Spears
Having built a solid resume writing and producing for the likes of The Chemical Brothers, Florence

Having built a solid resume writing and producing for the likes of The Chemical Brothers, Florence and the Machine, Solange Knowles and numerous others, it’s Dev Hynes‘ recently unearthed credits on last year’s Britney Spears’ Britney Jean album that have his name echoing through music’s social media platforms.
Whether it was the bad blood Dev hinted at in an interview with The Guardian last year (“They’d always come back with why they didn’t like it and it wouldn’t make any sense. I’d almost prefer them to say: We’re scared we’re not going to make any money so we’re just going to use will.i.am.”) or just plain old creative differences, the instrumentals were cut from the record and remained in artistic limbo until the handy work of an anonymous SoundCloud user saw them unearthed today.
Whilst the fate of these unreleased works remains uncertain, one has to wonder how many producers out there are holding onto similar gems and how much quality music we’re missing out on as a result. Listen below.
