The Royal Observatory Greenwich has announced the winners for this year’s Astronomy Photographer of the Year. Sorting through thousands of worthy pictures, the observatory has crowned UK-based photographer James Woodend with the prestigious honor of Overall Winner for his photograph of the green aurora engulfing a glacier lagoon and reflected in the still water. Other winners include numerous eye-catching shots of eclipses, nebulae, the surface of the sun, and coastal stairways. Enjoy the winning visuals above.
