Attending the premiere of his latest film earlier this week, André 3000 paid a visit to The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday to promote his Jimi Hendrix biopic, Jimi: All Is By My Side. Going on to share how he had to learn to play the guitar left-handed for the role, the OutKast emcee also went on to discuss his admiration for Hendrix’s confidence.
“I had to make it look like I had been playing that way for years, which is hard. [...] I’m not really confident in my talents in that way,” admitted Dre. “The only thing I’m confident in is knowing that I’m excited about new things.”
In honor of OutKast’s 20th anniversary, Ellen surprised him with a custom jumpsuit, that he’s been rocking on stage lately. In related news, OutKast will headline a three-day stint at Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic Park on this weekend, September 26-28, featuring special guests KiD CuDi, B.o.B, Solange, Janelle Monáe, 2 Chainz, and Childish Gambino.
